Why Visit Yangon (Rangoon)?
Yangon (Rangoon) is the former capital of Myanmar (Burma). It is biggest city in Myanmar and tourists can visit all seasons. Popular tourist destinations in Yangon are Shwedagon Pagoda, Colonial Buildings and downtown walking, Reclining Buddha, Scott Market, National Museum,
Kandawgyi Lake etc.,
Morning visit starts with Shwedagon Pagoda the most revered Buddhist temple in Myanmar. Although the origins of the pagoda are unclear, the local legend states that the original structure was built 2500 years ago then renovated several times until taking its current shape in the 15th century. The 8-sided central stupa is 99 meters tall and gilded with gold leaf and is surrounded by 64 smaller stupas and your guide will show you around the massive complex, explaining why this temple is so revered. Enjoy breathtaking views of the golden stupa from this vantage point.
Then, visit to Maharsi International Mediation Centre to look how people doing, working and sitting meditation. If you lucky and interested in it, you may meet a teacher for short guided mediation.
Visit continue to Chaukhtatgyi Pagoda Image (Six-Storied Pagoda) (a huge reclining Buddha), 70 meter long and one of Myanmar's largest and you can also get your fortune told by the fortune tellers who have shops nearby.
We suggest light lunch is good at Burmese style tea shop.
After lunch, explore to India quarter and Chinatown area, a colorful cacophony of restaurants, temples and markets. Scott market good for souvenir collectors. You can also visit to Modern shopping Center, Junction square is front of the big old Scott market.
Strolling around Sinthodan Jetty to observe the river life of Yangon and enjoy the old town sunset.
